About Wig Out
If you’re undergoing chemo, losing your locks is pretty much a given. For women, this condition known as chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA), can be particularly distressing. The combination of sudden hair loss, coming to terms with a life-changing diagnosis and persevering through each treatment is overwhelming.
At WIG OUT, we help women reclaim their feminine identity, confidence and dignity by providing quality wigs, headscarves, hats, toiletries, make-up and skincare tutorials to those suffering from the side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. We provide these items and services to financially disadvantaged cancer patients free-of-charge.
Often hair can define us. When you have cancer, you feel incredibly vulnerable and hair loss is a constant reminder that you are fighting a formidable opponent. Studies show hair loss is one of the most traumatic side-effects of treatment, one that can last for up to a year.
Our mission is to improve and positively impact the lives of women facing such daunting changes. With your help, we can help focus their energy on beating cancer, caring for their family, returning to work and rejoicing in themselves. WIG OUT was inspired by founder Nancy Riviere’s own acts of service while undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.
